Ghosts are something that most people flinch away from, even though they may not believe in them. With Halloween coming up, it seemed like the perfect time to discuss this topic.

Ghosts are a mysterious presence in the world, capable of causing havoc and providing comfort. In fiction, they can be used to scare us or make us laugh, but in reality, there is a lot we don't know about them.

Are they simply spirits that have unfinished business on earth? You might think you know all there is to know about ghosts, but here are few things you probably didn't know about them.

What are Ghosts?

Ghosts are a type of supernatural being that is believed to haunt certain locations, and sometimes people. The term "ghost" derives from the Latin word "ghost" which means “spirit of a deceased person”.

So a ghost is a spirit of a deceased person that has returned to earth for whatever reason either because he or she cannot let go of life on earth or for some other unknown reason.

Some people claim that ghosts appear to us so we can try and find out what they need so they can finally rest in peace. Ghosts are also said to be spirits of people who have died under tragic circumstances.

Ghosts in History

Ghosts have been mentioned in historical records for centuries. They have been described by witnesses as a “shadowy” form of a deceased person, which can be seen but not touched.

These sightings are often reported at a place that has been the scene of violence or death. For thousands of years, people have been reporting sightings and experiences with ghosts.

In the modern-day, thousands of people claim to have seen ghosts all over the world each year, and many people say they have had paranormal experiences. Even scientists believe in ghosts.

Types of Ghosts

Ghosts can be entities, such as any type of spiritualbeing, or even a strange phenomenon. The most known types of ghosts are:

1. Interactive Personality Ghost

The Interactive Personality Ghosts are the most well-known in hauntings and typically show up in a structure like when they were alive. These apparitions can walk, talk, and at times recognize the living.

2. Funnel Ghosts

Funnel Ghosts are normally spotted in historic buildings or old places. Many times Funnel Ghosts show up in photographs and will leave a person feeling unsettled after seeing the unknown phantom captured in the photographs.

Funnel Ghosts are commonly seen in historic places and old buildings. Ordinarily, Funnel Ghosts appear in photos and will leave an individual inclination agitated subsequent to seeing the obscure ghost caught in the photo.

3. Fog Ghosts

Like Funnel Ghosts, these Apparitions will in general leave the area or place they are haunting feeling cold when they show up. They can haunt historic houses, be seen outside in the evening or at night time, or pretty much anywhere.

4. Poltergeist

The most renowned kind of ghost, also the rarest ones, the Poltergeist is consistently the most worrying. Interpreted from German as a "noisy apparition," this ghost is known for vindictive or sometimes perilous behavior.

5. Ghost Orbs

Orbs are the most captured phantoms of all. Orbs ordinarily show up as blue, white, or glossy orbs. Genuine orbs quite often move in a whimsical veering or jumble way.

Paranormal specialists believe orbs are the spirits of individuals, or possibly creatures, going from one place to another.

 Reason Behind Ghost Existence

Ghosts are actually just the spirits of dead people who haven’t gone on to the afterlife yet. They can be trapped on earth for many different reasons. Ghosts often get stuck because they still have something unresolved from their life on earth. 

Sometimes they get stuck if their killers are still alive, or sometimes they get stuck if they didn’t complete an important task before leaving this world.

How Do Ghosts Haunt Us?

People who experience ghost sightings often describe them as having a powerful presence. They say that these spirits can make them feel unsafe, anxious, and nervous. They haunt particular places, objects, or people they were associated with in life.

Why Are Ghosts Scary?

There is no one reason why ghosts are so scary. Some people believe that ghosts represent unfinished business or the lingering energy of the living. 

Others think that we see ghosts because they remind us of our own mortality, and still others believe that ghosts are just figments of our imagination that is, manifestations of our own fears and desires.

How To Get Rid Of Ghost

Ghosts are often attached to their earthly belongings and will not move on until they have found peace with their possessions.

In order to get rid of a ghost, remove the objects that are keeping them from moving on to the afterlife.

What Happens To Ghosts When They Die?

Since we don’t know where ghosts go after they die, we can only speculate. We do know that the spirits of the deceased return to their former homes (wherever they died) because there is unfinished business or a personal connection to it.

Some souls might stay in the vicinity of their deaths and other mourners for a period, before moving on to whatever comes next. The other option is that ghosts leave this world and go somewhere else entirely. 

Evidence suggests that some people move into another dimension when they pass away, while others remain among us as ghosts.

Do you believe in ghosts?

The answer is complicated, and even though I don’t know for sure if ghosts are real or not.

The most popular theory is that ghosts are leftover energy from a person’s life made tangible. Psychologists believe it is simply an extension of our desire to remain connected to others even after their physical death. 

Another common theory is that ghosts are simply figments of our imagination or dreams manifested into reality.

But on the other hand, there are more than 1.7 billion people on this planet who claim some sort of belief in the supernatural.

Humankind has always had a fascination with the supernatural. The idea of ghosts, angels, or other life after death exists in nearly every culture around the world.

A common misconception about ghosts is that they are all evil. However, the truth of the matter is that there are good and bad spirits in this world. 

The first thought most people have when they see a ghost is to run away. This may be wise if the spirit seems malevolent, but it may also be dangerous because you could end up running right into something worse!
